1984 Happily in love and oh, so married, Holly is bored with the other aspects of her life and spends a good part of 1984 seeking anything to fill what she sees as a void. Robert’s suggestion is always the same... get pregnant! Holly finds alternatives from honing her culinary skills to trying her hand at solo detective work uncovering a scam with a local dance teacher. They spend their first Valentine’s Day together and Holly even convinces Robert to go on a ski trip with Celia and Grant Putnam. The ski trip gets cancelled because Robert must make a trip to Love prevails during 1984 most notably with a memorable night of Chinese food and a Charlie Chan film. The Women in Blue (WIB) call Robert on the carpet for his chauvinistic tendencies. Much to Robert’s dismay, Holly sides with the women members of the police force. Their marriage survives a bout of the flu for Robert and the WIB disagreement especially in light of the fact that Holly and a policewoman squash a robbery attempt in progress at the newly opened Spa. The month of May finds the Scorpios celebrating 365 days and nights of pure unadulterated bliss as they surprise each other on the anniversary of the first time they made love. The trials and tribulations of the “two Grants” continue to ensnare most of Port Charles and Robert is in the thick of it. Holly would like to be as well, but Robert keeps her out of it for her protection. Feeling slighted, Holly involves herself in the goings-on at the Spa.. During this time, Holly's cousin Alistair overstays his welcome and Holly sprains her ankle playing detective in Leo’s room. In her attempt to get to the bottom of things involving Leo the masseuse and several patrons of the Spa, Holly finds herself in the middle of the scandal - illicit pictures and all. Holly feels Robert is keeping secrets from her, so she keeps the Spa situation from him. Robert senses the increasing tumult present in his wife and questions her on numerous occasions. Holly denies anything is amiss and their marriage is strained in the process. The night of the gala at the Spa, she hints at a problem she cannot share with him and Robert is none to happy with her. A death at the spa sidetracks his concern until compromising pictures of Holly and Leo are found on the dead woman’s body. Robert sadly realizes his wife is being blackmailed and keeps the existence of the photos to himself. He starts his investigation into the death of Beatrice LaSeuer. When the tension in their marriage is more than palpable, Holly confesses to Robert about the pictures. She does not disclose her potential involvement in Beatrice’s death even though he presses her for more truths. Wanting to spare Robert a scandal, potential loss of his job, and the inevitable embarrassment her arrest would cause him, Holly continues to withhold information from her husband. She sets about getting things in order for a life behind bars. As Robert learns more about the cause of Beatrice’s death from the coroner, he fears the worst and Holly and Robert have a heated argument that leads to her admission of guilt. Robert vows to protect his wife as she vows to accept responsibility for her actions. When all hope seems lost, she is vindicated by the coroner’s final report. With a possible prison sentence for Holly behind them, the Scorpios waste no time in finding their next adventure. Grant Andrews enlists their help in aiding old friends of his, the Porchenkos, in their escape from the DVX. The couple again faces possible criminal charges and again escapes that fate. Robert asks Mayor Lee Baldwin for vacation time and the Scorpios plan a romantic trip to Paris. The plans are pushed to the side when Robert receives a call from Luke Spencer in Mexico asking for his help in clearing his name of false murder charges. Robert drops everything, including his vacation plans and his wife, to rush to his friend’s side. Holly joins the pair soon after at the home of Sean Donely, Robert’s former WSB boss. Complications stemming from an Aztec treasure bring Frisco and Felicia in on the shenanigans. Luke is cleared of all charges and is reunited with his pregnant wife, Laura. Robert and Holly invite Sean to be their guest in Port Charles for the upcoming Christmas holiday. Sean accepts the Scorpios’ invitation and Robert's wish is fulfilled when Sean decides to make Port Charles his permanent home. |
