When I sat down to update this page, I tried to think of ways to best highlight the last 25 years. Every fan has their own special reasons of why this couple is important, and why they’ve sustained in our collective memory for over two decades. There is no way I could do justice to that. My memories are of two characters falling in love and creating an undeniable connection. If those afternoons spent weren’t significant to me, this website would not exist. Watching Robert and Holly all those years ago affected me deeply, for I vowed to never settle for anything less than a lifetime love and a happy marriage. Like me, many fans remark of similar experiences. Robert and Holly gave us romance, joy, heartbreak, angst and laughter. Some describe the pairing as the classic fairytale, while others claim it was just simply magic. It is amazing that mere television characters could influence people, but the proof is evident in their continued popularity. Perhaps it was the times, our individual ages, life experience or merely the addiction of a soap opera. Regardless, the unique and unforgettable love story of the Scorpio’s made a lasting impression on legions of viewers in some way. If it hadn’t, fans wouldn’t come here day after day, for a glimpse back into timeless romance. In an effort to gain some recognition for Holly and Robert Scorpio’s 25th Wedding Anniversary, fans wrote letters, sent emails, contacted soap magazines and network comment lines. They posted announcements and reminders on other soapboards, fansites and messageboards. Banners were made and postcards were created for mailings in hopes that someone in addition to their fans would give Emma and Tristan the acknowledgment they deserve for creating one of the most memorable marriages in General Hospital history. I sincerely hope the endeavor will bring about a positive result. However, the collaborative effort wasn’t in vain. Even if the only tribute obtained is from the fan base, it is the most important of all. We remember Robert and Holly. That’s all that matters. |
